If you are in need of a snack or some water, the store just show of the Rt. 7 / Bulls Bridge Road intersection is the only place to stock up between Kent Village and New Milford.

Cross Route 7 at the traffic light and head up Bulls Bridge Road and follow this 2.3 mile road past fields and woods.  At the stop sign make a right onto South Kent Road.  You will follow South Kent Road for 1.4 miles.  Make a left onto Long Mountain Road then a right onto Browns Forge Road.  There are no street signs at this intersection. Another miles takes you to Station Road and again, street signs are nowhere to be found.  A left onto River Road takes you to the dirt road section that is passable on a skinny tired road bike if you take your time and are careful.  For most of its length, River Road is sandwiched between the Housatonic Railroad and the River.  There are scattered pull offs where you can stop and admire the River.

About 3.5 miles along, the rustic dirt road gives way to pavement and civilization.  Follow River Road until it ends at Boardman Road. Turn left and proceed for about 2.5 miles (past New Milford’s Little League fields, under a railroad overpass, then into downtown New Milford.   The Trail ends at the intersection of Young’s Field Road and Rt. 202 (Bridge Street).  Make a left at the stop sign to go to the New Milford Green.
