The HouBikeWalk Trail Committee is made up a small group of enthusiastic cyclists who share a vision that includes a regional network of bicycling and walking trails. First steps of this group involved creating a “ride it now” route that would bring visibility and interest to the region, and the excellent cycling and hiking opportunities within.
We work closely with simialr groups to the North and South so that our efforts are compatible, seamless and eventually will connect and form a contiguous route from New York City to Montreal. (See the website of the Western New England Greenway project.)
For now – we’ll be happy with over-the-road routes, selected for the lightest traffic, most scenery, and highest level of safety for all cyclists. Eventually we envision a dedicated trail, devoted exclusively to non-motorized traffic.
You’ll find a printed brochure of this entire Northwest CT route – the HouBikeWalk Trail – at merchants, libraries and twn halls throughout the region. Or – contact us and we’ll mail you one! There are also companion brochures for “loop” routes in Kent and in Salisbury / Sharon.
